About Winco Industries

The Winco Edge

In 1960 after the closing of Aero Products where he had been employed for over 20 years, Carl Winblad opened a resharpening and re-grinding shop on Fifth Street in Tipp City, Ohio under the name of Tipp Cutting Tool Service.

The original business of resharpening cutting tools grew and in the early '60s the company moved to a larger existing building, making possible the addition of a few part-time employees as well as the luxury of plumbing and heating facilities.

By 1967 another relocation, allowed for the expansion of work to include the manufacture of small quantities of various types of cutting tools in addition to the re-grinding services. Incorporation followed shortly in 1968.

In 1974 the Corporation was restructured as Winco Industries Inc. with two different entities - PD&R and Advanced Manufacturing. Needing more space, another existing building was acquired to house Advanced Manufacturing, a production broaching operation. Later the Advanced Manufacturing operation was closed and all efforts were directed to the production of pressure coolant type gun drills and reamers.

Winco's research and development in the 1980s allowed the company to begin developing polycrystalline diamond (PCD) cutting tools for non-ferrous metals.

Winco Industries continues to grow and is now a major producer of Carbide, PCD and CBN Cutting Tools serving industries around the world with manufacturing operations in the United States and Mexico.
